Cozy bookish nook

Most people have a favorite spot in their homes that they tend to naturally gravitate towards. This cozy bookish nook is mine. Several hours a day, I work at that desk but what I enjoy most is when I unwittingly take a respite from my hectic day to pick up one of my books. There is something so soothing about spontaneously flipping through the pages to a random spot for some desultory insight, great quote, enthralling passage or thought-provoking question. It’s as if they are always in the background beckoning to be discovered. Every once in a while, I swap out the books on the credenza with new ones so that the serendipitous discovery isn’t compromised.

I get lost in these moments. Or am I found? I become enveloped in cogitation. There is one prevailing thought, however, whenever I take one of these literary quick-fix breaks: I need a better reading chair!

Years ago, when I found myself reading too much indoors, I bought myself a reading hammock for the backyard. I practically live on that thing. It’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The hammock is too big to drag indoors but nothing beats its comfort for reading. So, I’ve been thinking I should probably get a hammock chair for indoors!

Genius, I know. After a few searches, I have set my eye on this one:

And I have every intention of setting it right next to my desk in my favorite, cozy bookish nook.

Do you have a favorite spot in your home? What makes it your favorite?

Much love,

Globetrotter Momma

Lovely arrangement. My favorite spot for don’t the sort of exploration you’re talking about is usually on the floor in front of the shelves I’m looking at. But if I discover something really engaging, I’m at my desk so that I can record quotes or thoughts in my commonplace book.
